Lodge Newsletter April - May 2015

Greetings Brethren! I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day is a day of reflection and thanks for all the Men and Women that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country in time of war dating back to the Civil War. Please take time today to remember those soldiers and their families in your thoughts and prayers when on bended knee.

It has already been communicated, but in case you did not get the word, there will not be a Lodge Meeting tonight. Please take this time to spend with your family on this Holiday. We will meet again on June 8th. Hope to see y’all there. Bring a brother with you who hasn’t made a meeting in a while or one who cannot drive at night. We would love to see them and have them join us in Lodge.

Our next Lodge practice is next Monday, June 1st. Half of the year is almost gone and it is time for those members in the Officer’s Line to learn new upcoming positions. Practice is important. Our last practice only had four members. Rob Nethaway, SW, Thomas Brannen, PM (Director of Work), Alan Shaw, PC (Degree Team Director), and myself. Please plan to attend and come to learn something new.

Next Saturday, we are participating in a Health Fair at the Sacred Heart Church Parrish Activity Center located at 251 South Davis Dr. Warner Robins, GA 31088. We will be doing a CHIP Event at the Health Fair between the hours of 10AM to 2PM. Please plan on attending. We can use your help. For planning purposes, If you know you are going to be there, please contact Landon Culpepper (229-561-4322) and let him know.

Thanks to the Degree Team, headed up by WB Alan Shaw, PM , for the great job raising Brother Doug Newsom on April 27th.  We had a great turnout for the event. I appreciate everyone’s hard work in making this degree a success for our newly raised Brother. I know that Brother Newsom is working hard to complete his proficiency, so he may become well involved in the Lodge in the near future. Good job Doug!

Special Thanks to our ladies from the Order of the Eastern Star, who provided 3 outstanding meals for us the past two months. Ladies,  we really appreciate everything you do for us. Congratulations to MS Lavern Purser on being installed as the Worthy Matron on April 18th. That was the first OES Installation that I have attended and I appreciate the invitation. Job well done.

On April 11, we sold Sodas and Water at the Perry Dogwood Festival. We had great weather all of Saturday and part of Sunday. Brother Nethaway, WB Baxter, and myself would like to thank all who came out and helped during the two days. It wasn’t the best fundraiser we’ve had, but we made a few dollars for the Lodge and as you know, every little bit helps.

We are still supporting the Hospice at the Perry Hospital. We are still taking snack donations over to the Hospice on a frequent basis. If you would like to donate some snacks for the Hospice, please bring them to the Lodge Meeting with you and we will see that they get delivered. Thanks!

Have a great summer and be safe! If there is anything that Lady Sandra and I can do for you, let us know.

Fraternally yours,
Dan Kitchens, WM
